Downtown Planters

Downtown Pittsburgh's planters now behold a festive array of evergreens as the cold season is now upon us.

In 2008 we celebrated the City of Pittsburgh's 250th Birthday. The Colcom Foundation has supported 400 large planters as a bouquet of flowers in the Golden Triangle to celebrate the wondrous year. Situated throughout Downtown Pittsburgh, the beautiful greenery enhances the streetscape and provides an enjoyable view for pedestrians and passersby alike.

These Downtown Greening Initiatives- the Planters and the Hanging Baskets (which are supported by the Laurel Foundation), commenced with a celebration and press conference at the Benedum Theatre, presided over by former mayor of Pittsburgh, Ms. Sophie Masloff.
